One year ago today, I had the opportunity to go to my very first Tom Petty Concert in Houston, Texas. TP has been around for a lot of years and has many many great hits. This specific tour was labeled as ” Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers 40th Anniversary Tour”. Always have been too busy to go to one of his shows and going not realizing that this would be my last opportunity , as he passed later on October 2, 2017.
Another legend , Joe Walsh, was his warmup band. He got everyone fired up with his classic hits; life’s been good, all night long, a sing along with a average ordinary guy. Rocky Mountain way and my favorite “Funk 49”.
Tom Petty started off with an intro song, then brought the crowd off their feet with the classic “Mary Jane Last Dance’. This man at 66 years of age, along with his band members being the same age , still had it that talent and very high energy like they possessed 40 years earlier. I estimate the concert was for two and a half hours and I could have stayed all night . I don’t know what my favorite petty song is, it seems to change everyday, so every song is my favorite. Her is a clip of one of my favorites IMG_0818
