After reading the attached article, I recall a time that I was observing a Dallas Cowboys and overheard Bill Parcells saying to Jerry Jones,”Some people have retired, they just havent announced it yet.” After practice was over, I asked Coach Parcells if he was talking about players or coaches? He looked at me sternly and bluntly replied “BOTH”Going forward in my Coaching career, i easily could see his wisdom and what he was talking about.
There is a cliche that “you don’t use it you lose it”. My 81 year old mother is a great example of service and productivity. She is more busy than any person that I know. She teaches three bible study classes per week , in addition to running a women’s prison ministry.
I am currently reading and Inspired by T. Boone Picken’s Book “The First Billion Is The Hardest” that describes his business adventures beyond his retirement. at 90 years of age. He still works 12 hours a day and pays more taxes than at any point in his life. It is my understanding that at 90, Red McCombs still burns the candle at both ends
I was really inspired in the attached article on 63 year old Dr. Tyrone Krause joining the Navy. https://pilotonline.com/news/military/local/article_20eb34ea-86be-11e8-8dae-e3420ca79b57.html
I have enjoyed over three decades as a College Football Coach. I approach my new Real Estate career with the same work ethic as I did when I prepared players for a game or perhaps a NFL career. Also,I am a volunteer football coach for Durango High School coaching the Defensive Line.
No Matter where you are in life, may this and the attached inspire you to live and lead a life with passion and purpose.
